The magnanimity of the establishments that acknowledge the virtue of allowing the forces of opposition to take control of the government in accordance with the principles of democracy for a definite period of time should be one of the criteria for judging the degree of the social maturity of a nation. It's my belief that the development of people's objectivity is key to leading a nation in the right direction. Obviously, regressing into childishness is the wrong direction.
Speaking in a familiar tone, a "slight" shift of the way of thinking of people toward that of Mr. Spock from Vulcan may be necessary. Needless to say, people's subjectivity, which is an expression of their personality, shouldn't be harmed.

Ethics and moral standards aren't unalterable. Desirably, these standards have mostly been made better with the change of the times. Historically speaking, the changes in these standards in Western countries are always active and ceaseless. On the other side, in Asian countries, the changes in these standards tend to be stagnant even though their developments in the industries have advanced consistently in recent times. This tendency is still valid at the present time.
The difference in self-awareness of improving ethics and moral standards has been causing emotional conflicts between the Western and Asian camps.

Downloaded the 1040 and other supportive forms from the US IRS website. Wrote a letter to the IRS as follows:

Dear IRS Officers,

PNC Mortgage recently airmailed me the document of the 2013 Mortgage Interest Statement that is enclosed in this envelope. It seems to me that this document states that PNC received the amount of $5,189.60 from my escrow account for interest on the mortgage in 2013.

I paid off the mortgage from PNC Mortgage at the end of 2012 and my escrow account was closed after the last escrow analysis for my account was completed in January 2013. Because I am not familiar with the home mortgage business, I only can guess what it is. I believe that the net interest of $5,189.60 that is entered in Box 1 of this document was paid as part of the last escrow analysis process in January 2013.

Best Regards,
Yasuhito Shiho
