Mr. Clifton Truman Daniel, who is a grandson of the 33rd US President Harry S. Truman, attended the 67th anniversary of the atomic bombing on Hiroshima in Japan today.
At the Yalta Conference held in southern Crimea in February 1945, dealing with the aftermath of WWII, German disarmament, the foundation of the United Nations, Russia's entry into the Pacific War against Japan, and other matters were discussed. The 32nd US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who attended the Yalta Conference as the US president, passed away two months later. In July 1945, the first atomic bomb was set off in the New Mexico desert. Probably, the final decision on the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was made sometime that month.
I believe that Mr. Clifton Truman Daniel isn't a person who holds the idea that for the purpose of minimizing the number of casualties from one's fellow countrymen the execution of every means including massacres of civilians in a hostile country is justified. Obviously, he isn't. The politicians and officials who hold this idea should be criticized and be kept under observation. At the present time, it annoys me to think that there may be a considerable number of politicians and officials holding either the skull and crossbones or another perilous flag may nonchalantly claim that the execution of every means may be justified 'if the general public doesn't notice it'. They may profess themselves to be elite, but actually, they are just gangsters though it can't be denied totally that a nation may need them as the necessary evils that are in charge of doing all the dirty work. However, it goes without saying that a person holding such an idea shouldn't be elected to be the leader of a country for world peace.

Flexible thinking is the creative power. I think that liberated thinking that isn't bound to fixed ideas can be safely developed by education when it's conducted in limited areas above a certain age. In most cases, however, any guidance to the perilous ideas of crossing the redlines should be avoided at any age. That's outrageous for ordinary people.
Grown-up people are capable of restricting themselves to safe zones in general. Of course, there are exceptional cases. Because of that, liberated thinking should be developed more safely only in the limited areas that people make the specialties of. The advancement of liberated thinking since their youth should raise the risk to increase the number of people who commit whatever it takes to gain a profit.

Last evening, my wife said that she would like to see the film describing the life of Mr. Benjamin Franklin rather than that of Mr. Franklin D. Roosevelt. I agreed with her opinion. The original story can be his 'Autobiography'. It seems that the adaptation of the life of one of the most multi-talented men in US history to a two-hour film isn't easy. My wife also said that Mr. Geoffrey Rush might be just right for the role of 'Ben-Ben'. I think that the acting ability of Mr. Rush may enable him to become completely the character of Mr. Ben Franklin if he gains weight. That isn't good for the actor's health.

Because of constant drought, the growth rate of the lawns in our yards is much slower than usual. In order to protect the lawns from the damages due to the heat wave, the lawns are let grow longer intentionally. Ate a dish of Italian pasta for dinner. Stayed at home for the entire day.

Inside a grocery store, yesterday, I saw a few people wearing very dark sunglasses. It seems that from the security point of view, this sort of behavior by some customers should be troublesome.
Only for a few days after I had LASIK surgery in the spring of 2000, I had to put on a pair of sunglasses sometimes even in the office, especially in the latter half of my working time. At that time, computer monitors caused severe eyestrain. Even the dim light from the fluorescent lamps bothered my vision.
At the present time, I wear computer glasses with slightly-orange-tinted lenses only when I'm using a computer. I sometimes need to wear reading glasses. Without these exceptions, I don't wear any eyeglasses indoors. I put on a pair of sunglasses with good UV-filtered lenses only outdoors, because my eyes need it.

Today's maximum temperature was 103 degrees F (39.4 degrees C). A slight evening shower soaked into the ground.

Because wearing glasses lets people alter very much in appearance in most cases, for the purpose of identification, wearing no glasses should be desirable, especially indoors. People's appearance alters by putting on even a pair of rimless glasses with clear lenses.
Currently, however, any vision correction surgery isn't perfect. Wearing contact lenses is far from comfortable. In the future, the advancements in medical treatments and technologies will remedy the situation.

Today's maximum temperature was 102 degrees F (38.9 degrees C).

Today's rain has somewhat reduced the risk of damage to trees and plants in our yards due to recent drought. Probably, the worst part of the drought here this year has already been gotten past.
